My story Planned Parenthood story begins before I was born. My mom suspected that she was pregnant with me and went to the local clinic to take a test to confirm her suspicions. The clinician came back to her with the results and began a conversation expressing concern saying, "you already have two children, and you don't seem too happy,". Being a devout Catholic, my mother didn't see any other options and chose to carry her pregnancy to term. When she retold the story to me, she said she was freaked out because of the conversation thinking that they wanted to push the option of abortion on her. While those who support anti-choice regulation may argue that I may not exist today because they were offering her options, I believe that it gives my life story more validation and meaning because she chose to have me. They provided her with the necessary care that she requested. As an adult, I have used Planned Parenthood's services when I didn't have a regular health care service provider, and still use their contraceptive services. I am able to pursue a career and life as a single independent woman and also am able ensure that I have control of my life and my future.
